Morse Below Hook Drum Handler

Morse Model 185G below-hook drum carrier allows you to lift, move and pour a drum weighing up to 800 Lb. (363 kg). The 3-piece drum holder is designed to securely hold a 55-gallon steel drum (208 liter steel drum) with 22.5" (57 cm) outside diameter between the ribs.

The KEY FEATURE of Model 185G is its 3-Piece Drum Holder. This 8" (20.3 cm) wide metal band is hinged in two places and has a front closure to secure the drum. It replaces the cinch chain and ratchet tightner.

To load the drum lifter, simply move the drum holder against the drum and cinch the chain. Lift drum and rotate drum 360 degrees in either direction. Drum can be held at any tilt angle. The standard drum tilt control is a chain wheel with 12' (3.66 meter) chain loop.

The slots in the bottom of the frame can be used as a chain lock to prevent the drum from tilting. To do so, crisscross the chain and insert one side into each slot. If the drum handler is equipped with the MORStop Tilt-Brake (option # 3900i-P), braking is immediate and automatic.

Morse drum lifters comply with ANSI/ASME B30.20 standard for mechanical, below-the-hook lifting devices as it applies to the following:

  • Rated load markings and unit identification
  • Minimum design safety factor of 3, based on yield strength, for load bearing structural components
  • Welding is performed by certified welders who have passed the ANSI/AWS D14.1 welding qualification test
  • All welding is in accordance with ANSI/AWS D14.1 and ASME BTH-1

Use these below the hook drum carriers with your hoist or crane to control the pour of drum contents, rather than simply dump the entire contents with a drum inverter.
